ASI publications win 20 awards from American Society of Business Publication Editors
TREVOSE, PA – August 5, 2011 – The Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI) today announced Stitches was honored as Magazine of the Year by the American Society of Business Publication Editors in the 33rd annual Azbee Awards of Excellence competition.
In addition to honoring Stitches, the ASBPE honored ASI publications with eight national and 11 regional awards of excellence for writing, editing, research, design and photography.
In the Magazine of the Year competition, judges from the professional B-to-B magazine-editing world evaluated three consecutive issues from each entrant, examining their writing, reporting and editing; their usefulness to and interactivity with readers; editorial organization; and layout and design. Past winners have included Bloomberg Businessweek, Fortune Small Business and Computerworld magazines.
Stitches stood out from the competition with strong writing, understanding of its target audience and intriguing design, according to the judges. In particular, judges noted Stitches is “brightly written and designed” and “easy to read and aesthetically pleasing,” showing “a real engagement in the industry you don’t always see.”
With a circulation of over 21,000, Stitches is the single most referenced magazine of the embroidery business, offering technical and business advice from leaders in the embroidery and apparel industry. Nicole M. Rollender is editor of Stitches and ASI’s director of education.
“It’s a profound honor to be recognized nationally as Magazine of the Year by such a prestigious body, and I couldn’t be more proud of Stitches editor Nicole Rollender and her entire editorial staff,” said Timothy M. Andrews, president and chief executive officer of ASI. “I’m delighted the magazine world is recognizing the hard work and creativity the staff pours into the magazine on behalf of our readers each and every month.”
